Minutes of Meeting | TODAY on dated 6th July first Weekly meeting held at Bal Kalyan under PRESSIDENT Mr Rajendra Shelar—- chaired by Hon SHRI SHETHI SIR .. THE MAIN SPEAKER OF TODAYS MEETING Rotarian & Our dynamic Secretary YOGINI JOSHI had given PPT & speech on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Here's a breakdown of each component as she explained as under —- 1. *Diversity*: Refers to the presence of differences within a given setting. In a workplace or educational environment, this can mean differences in race, ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, education, and religion. It's about recognizing and valuing the unique qualities and perspectives that individuals bring to an organization or group. 2. *Equity*: Involves fair treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people. It requires identifying and eliminating barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups. Equity is different from equality; while equality means treating everyone the same, equity involves treating people differently based on their needs to achieve fair outcomes. 3. *Inclusion*: The practice of creating environments in which any individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued. An inclusive environment is one where diverse individuals feel they can participate fully in the organization or community. *Applications of DEI*: - *Workplace*: Implementing DEI practices can lead to a more inclusive and innovative work environment. This includes diverse hiring practices, equitable pay, and fostering a culture where all employees feel valued and included. - *Education*: Schools and universities can incorporate DEI principles to ensure all students have access to resources and opportunities, creating a learning environment that respects and embraces diversity. - *Healthcare*: Ensuring equitable access to medical care for all demographics, addressing disparities in health outcomes, and fostering an inclusive environment for both patients and healthcare professionals. - *Community Programs*: Creating initiatives and policies that support the diverse needs of community members, ensuring that everyone has equal access to community resources and opportunities. DEI is essential for fostering a fair, innovative, and harmonious society by recognizing and addressing systemic inequalities and promoting the value of diverse perspectives. Effective member retention is crucial for maintaining a vibrant, active, and effective Rotary club. Here are some key aspects of member retention in Rotary: 1. *Engagement*: Ensuring that members feel involved and valued within the club. This can be achieved by providing meaningful projects, leadership opportunities, and a variety of activities that match members' interests and skills. 2. *Communication*: Keeping open lines of communication between club leaders and members. Regular updates, newsletters, and meetings help members stay informed and feel connected to the club's goals and activities. 3. *Mentorship and Support*: Providing support for new members through mentorship programs, where experienced members guide and assist newer ones. This helps new members integrate and find their place within the club. 4. *Recognition and Appreciation*: Regularly recognizing and appreciating the contributions of members. Awards, public acknowledgments, and personal thank-yous can make members feel valued and motivated to continue their involvement. 5. *Training and Development*: Offering opportunities for personal and professional development. This can include leadership training, workshops, and seminars that help members grow and see value in their Rotary membership. 6. *Social Connections*: Fostering a sense of community and friendship among members through social events, gatherings, and informal meet-ups. Strong personal connections can significantly enhance member retention. 7. *Feedback Mechanisms*: Implementing systems for members to provide feedback on club activities, projects, and overall experience.
